Happy New Year!
An Open Letter to David Rosenthal and everyone writing scripts for Gilmore Girls:
Hi. It’s a brand new year. Let’s start fresh, shall we? Let’s hurry that divorce up for our girl Lorelai. Once she’s divorced, don’t send her straight back to Luke, give her a little time to figure out that he’s the one for her. And while we’re at it, let’s go ahead and bring Lorelai’s spunk back. She’s been much too bland since Amy left. Spice up the conversations and definitely pick up a copy of at least Entertainment Weekly to brush up on those pop culture references. Two Gwyneth Paltrow references in a single episode is totally weak.
Snap Rory out of it, too. Hasn’t she always wanted to be Christiane Amanpour? Set her on that path. No more dying her hair red and crying on the bathroom floor about what is she going to do with her life. Figure it out and get her back on track. Speaking of Rory – she needs her best friend Lane. More Lane, please. I know it is too late to undo that twins storyline, but at least let us see Mrs. Kim interfering with Lane and Zach. And yes, Rory has another friend, too, PARIS. Paris has been one of the few bright, consistently funny spots on the show this season.
April – yeah, go ahead and ship her off to Arizona but give Luke visitation rights and all. The less of her the better. Speaking of Luke, start fighting for Lorelai! Stand up and do something about losing her instead of moping around.
As for Chris, sorry, but it is time for bye bye. He’s done enough damage and served his purpose, so send him away.
Where are the locals? We need more Miss Patty, Babette and Kirk. Heck, even a little Taylor wouldn’t hurt, either.
And of the upmost importance – more Richard and Emily and more Friday night dinners. I MISS the GILMORES, not the new Haydens, but the GILMORES.
Oh, and let Rina Mimoun write another episode or 9. Can’t wait to see what happens next –

Excellent post! I love your suggestions. I would also add that the current writers should watch the pilot episode again (and perhaps even all of Season 1). ASP was always true to the pilot in ways I fear are being lost now.
Oh, and definitely get rid of Paul Anka–the most annoying character ever, IMHO.

I disagree about PaulAnka-I love him! I do agree about bringing all of those other characters back and also about what to do with Luke. I have confidence in the new writers/producers, though. I don’t think they will let us down.
