Some prattle to tide us over

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

It will be more than a week before we see a new episode. It seems like it has been forever. Next week “Merry Fisticuffs” will run again, up against the premiere of “American Idol.” In the meantime, it isn’t much but here’s a tidbit from Ausiello at TV Guide:

Lorelai is going to go out of her way to help Luke in his custody battle for April.

Question: Is the death you were referring to on Gilmore Girls going to be Paul Anka?— Jill B.
Ausiello: No, but you’re close.

Question: Is there any new Gilmore Girls scoop? Perhaps word on when Lorelai will make her first appearance in Luke’s diner again?— Katie
Ausiello: Sookie brings her some coffee from the diner, and they talk about whether that’s weird for Lorelai. Does that count?

The next episode

Friday, January 5th, 2007

We still have a few weeks to go before the next new episode. “Santa’s Secret Stuff” will air on January 23. Here’s a bit of info on the episode: Lorelai and Rory will run into April and Luke . Rory returns from London after the holidays. Lorelai is disappointed that Rory celebrated Christmas in London with Logan, but decides to have a “Christmas after Christmas” celebration as a new family complete with trees, decorations and shopping. Luke asks Lorelai to write a character recommendation letter for his custody battle with Anna over April.

Rumors

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

There is a rumored death coming in the next few weeks. From everything I’ve read it will not be Richard. We know he’s got a health scare coming up, so it’s good to know it isn’t him. Mike Ausiello at TV Guide reported that it is “supposed to be funny and it won’t be sad.” He also went on to say it will not be Kirk. So any guesses? Maybe Paul Anka or another one of Babette’s cats? (Remember Cinamonn’s wake?)

Not too spoilery, but check it out

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

From TV Guide’s Mike Ausiello:

Question: Can I get some nice Gilmore Girls scoop, please?— Franziska
Ausiello: Lorelai and Christopher are going to have a huge falling-out in early ‘07 over a letter. Also, Rory’s going to develop a crush on the hot young economics professor brought in to temporarily replace an ailing Richard. And there will be a death around Episode 13, but not a serious one. In fact, it’s kinda funny.

What’s ahead after the break?

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Kristin at E! gives us a little scoop:

From Kirk: No Gilmore for how long?!
More than a month! It doesn’t return till January 23. And when it does, the love triangle will continue, as Lorelai gets involved in Luke’s custody battle for April, which could possibly send Christopher off the deep end.

Some mild spoilers

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Courtesy of Ausiello over at TV Guide:

Question: In the last podcast, you said that the story line on Gilmore Girls with Chris sulking and Luke helping Emily while Richard is sick has been “tweaked.” Does that also mean that Lorelai’s resulting epiphany about the two men has also changed?— Katie
Ausiello: Turns out it was just a minor “tweaking.” The story plays out the same way, with Luke running errands for Emily and Chris throwing a pity party for himself. But it’s my understanding that Lorelai’s epiphany will be more gradual. The end result, of course, will be the same: Luke in, Christopher out. Speaking of Episode 13, in a Gilmore first, nearly the entire hour will take place in the hospital. I hear there’s some great Lorelai/Emily stuff. It’s about damn time.

Some scoop for the hiatus

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

The holidays are great and all, but you know what that means - no new TV for awhile. I guess I should get out in the world anyway! But to hold us over, here’s some scoop on what’s ahead after the holidays:

Luke continues the custody procedures but needs Lorelai to write a letter as character reference. Lorelai must babysit Davey, Sookie’s son. To help ease her time with the boy, Lorelai brings him a gift.

Some scoop!

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

Accroding to Kristin at E!, things are looking up!

From Wendy: I’m sick of no contact between Luke and Lorelai! What’s going to happen?
No worries, Wendy. The silence ends this week, and things are about to change. Unfortunately for Christopher, that means marital troubles are imminent. Luke will be back in Lore’s life, and the two will become a major support system to each other in the coming months.

David Rosenthal Q and A

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Exec Producer David Rosenthal talks to Michael Aussiello again. Warning - some spoilers!

I’m assuming it’s not going to be smooth sailing for the newlyweds,
right?

David Rosenthal: It’s one thing to go off on this romantic weekend and get married; it’s another thing to actually come back and deal with the reality of being married. Lorelai’s never lived with anyone. They’ve never really lived together. This marriage puts a lot of pressure on them both. That’s the big theme for the latter half of the season for Lorelai and Chris, and for Rory. She’s facing graduation and her future, and she’s always thought, “Oh, I’m going to be a journalist.” Rory’s going to open herself up to the possibility that there are other options out there for her.

Rory’s going to embark on a new career?
Rosenthal: She’s never really considered anything else; now she’s willing to consider everything else. And there’s the other issue of Logan being back in New York. There are opportunities that could pull her away from Logan. Suddenly, it’s no longer a college relationship. It’s two people out in the world, so the stakes become higher.

How will Logan’s return impact Rory in the short term?
Rosenthal: It will kind of rev up their relationship in good and bad ways. We’re going to see their relationship deepen and complicate in many ways.

Will Rory find herself torn between Marty and Logan?
Rosenthal: No. Marty’s feelings for Rory will really be the issue; it’s not reciprocated. The man is still holding a torch. It’s something he just can’t seem to let go of, and it’ll definitely cause problems. But there’s nothing on Rory’s end. It’s not her thing — it’s his thing.

Back to Lorelai and Christopher, fans are speculating that their marriage is going to be short-lived since David Sutcliffe is allegedly only going to be around for a handful of episodes during the second half of the season. And from that, they’re deducing that Lorelai will be back together with Luke by February. Your thoughts?
Rosenthal: I’m gonna say, “No comment.”

[I don't know about you guys, but that "no comment" spoke volumes to me.]

The following section contains Ausiello’s own answers to questions:
Question: I heard that Rory gets mad at Lorelai about eloping.— Erin
Ausiello: Actually, I hear Rory takes the news surprisingly well. Luke, on the other hand, finds out when he spots the ring on Lor’s finger. That’s gotta hurt.

Question: You never talk about Gilmore Girls anymore! What gives?— Candace
Ausiello: I’m inclined to think I more than made up for it this week, Candy. But here’s another extra spoilery tidbit, you ungrateful brat: A somewhat reliable Stars Hollow mole tells me that Episode 13 marks a major turning point in the Luke-Lorelai-Christopher triangle. Apparently, Luke and Christopher choose to deal with Richard’s health crisis in very different ways: Luke chooses to run around helping Emily, while Christopher chooses to go off and sulk about a bad fight he had with Lorelai. Cue the inevitable Lorelai epiphany.
