Luke’s Sis Gets Married

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

gg4.jpgRory goes on a date with the guy her grandma introduced her to but they end up at a bar and he gets a bunch of guys to join them. Before she knows it they are all drinking and she decides to go, telling him he doesn’t need to drive her or give her money for a cab. Once he is gone she calls Dean to come bail her out. He shows up and they began talking. They spend time together and walk around her campus. But then she asks Dean how he is there with her, without Lindsay asking where he is.

Rory & Dean after Breakup

Lorelai and Rory

We all know it’s hard to see someone after a breakup but even harder if you live in a small town like Stars Hollow. Everyone knows that the two of them are no longer together and thinks Dean must’ve done something to her. Luke spots Dean heading to the cafe and meets him outside to have a slapfest.

Rory decides to go to the Chilton Party and asks Lane to come with. Rory spots a box of cornstarch before she leaves and gets all weepy and decides to toss it. Lorelai grabs it and tells her she’ll do it and have a great time at the party. Once they leave Lorelai goes to her closet and places the cornstarch in a box of things. My guess is it is everything Dean ever gave her.

Rory and Dean 3 Month Anniversary

It starts off with Miss Patty’s story hour as she is telling the town the story of how it all began. It’s Christmas time and everyone is preparing for the town festivals. In this episode it is Rory and Deans anniversary and he asks her to get out of Friday Nights with the grandparents. haha. Boy, is he in for a world of hurt. That’s like taboo for the grandparents. Rory gets home and asks Mom if she can get out of friday night. Lorelai tells her that grandma is NOT going to let this happen.

Gilmore Girls Pilot

Wow, can you believe that it has been over for 6 months now and was a part of our lives for over 5 years? ::wipes eye:: I sure do miss this show but now I think I’ll be happy, reliving those old memories all over again.

Who here remembers that first show? Did you watch all the way to the end? What made you watch that first episode? I remember being so amazed with the relationship between mother and daughter, they laughed, teased, were best friends, etc. This was where they’d found our Rory had been accepted to Chilton, only Lorelai didn’t have the money for the tuition. She’d never let this get in her way and went back to mommy/daddy dearest and begged for help.

“Bon Voyage” Recap

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Was anyone else crying? I seriously was and I’m not ashamed to admit it! I am so sad to see this wonderful show exit. I know it hasn’t been up to par this season, but overall, I’ll look back on the series as one of the best I ever watched. I thought I’d do the recap by character.

Rory — Rory took a job as a writer for an online magazine following Barrack Obama’s campaign. So she has three days to tell everyone goodbye and pack up and leave. She has to cancel her rollercoaster trip with Lorelai. This was very sad to me. I know it was true to real life, but I was hoping it would end with the two of them having one last hurrah before Rory entered the real world.

Lane — Lane has been severely under used these past few seasons. I was very glad to see her have a nice moment with Rory. This is when I started to cry. But as far as BFFs go, where was Paris? I would haved loved to see her and Rory’s goodbye. (And yes, I know we got a nice scene between them last week, but I wanted more).

Richard and Emily - We got to see a final Friday night dinner. I loved that Emily was trying to come up with excuses to continue to see Lorelai. More tears when Richard called Lorelai “remarkable” and more tears when Lorelai told Emily she’d see her at dinner. The family dynamic has always been the core of this show and I was glad to see it handled so well at the end.

The townsfolk - Everyone had their little moment - Sookie, Kirk, Taylor, Babette, Miss Patty — I’ll miss all of you (well maybe not Taylor). I was surprised they didn’t show a goodbye with Sookie and Rory. Sookie practically helped raise Rory.

Luke - Luke went all out for Lorelai and Rory. And he did it all because he “just wants to see you (Lorelai) happy.” Awww…. finally those two are back on track. It is a shame we won’t get the Lorelai/Luke wedding (With the chuppah he built for her). But we can leave that up to our imaginations, can’t we? After all, at its core, the show was about Lorelai and Rory and it was fitting that it ended with the two of them in Luke’s diner.

“Lorelai, Lorelai?” Recap

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

I really liked this episode. Was it the best in the history of the series? No, but it was very good.

So Rory has her meltdown and goes home. So Lorelai is the doting and supportive mom. She tries to cheer Rory up. And the big granddaddy of cheering up gestures commences with a fun little version of “I Will Always Love You” at a karoke bar. It quickly ramps into a serious, heartfelt performance to Luke when he enters the bar. BIG props to Lauren Graham for another great performance. Just that little look she gives him at the end? Priceless.

Meanwhile, Luke gets the news that April will be going to science camp instead of on a boat trip with him. Hmm…. let’s see - that leaves all those plans made and no one to go with? Wonder who would go with him?

We finally got to see Lane with the babies. I was bummed that we didn’t get any explanation at all about the names. And Zach gets a big break to fill in as a guitarist for a band and will go on tour for two months. Lane agrees to go with him but changes her mind. She tells Rory the “maturity” gene must have kicked in when the babies were born. I miss the old Rory/Lane friendship. It has really been put on the back burner lately, so I love any scenes with the two of them.

And Logan. WOW. Homeboy sure went from “I can’t date one girl” to proposing at 23 really quick, didn’t he? I’m very interested to see how this plays out. According to the preview for next week, he asks in front of a group of people. WOW.

“It’s Just Like Riding A Bike? Recap

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Good episode! Finally we have a little progress with the overall storyline. Rory is anxiously waiting word on the fellowship, Paris is getting acceptance letters to medical and law schools left and right, Sookie finally admits she is holding a grudge against Jackson and Lorelai and Luke work on the whole friends thing.

I love Paris. I would love to see a Paris spin off show. Send her to North Carolina for medical school and watch the fun unfold! But I digress. Paris has a huge decision to make and decides she doesn’t want her relationship with Doyle to affect it, so she breaks up with him. Doyle decides he doesn’t want to break up so he tells her he will follow her wherever she goes. Aww…. How sweet. Who would have ever thought Paris would end up in a great, stable relationship? I love it.

Meanwhile, Rory agonizes while waiting for the fellowship letter. She finally gets the letter and she did not get the fellowship. So our girl has got to figure out a game plan now. I can’t wait to see next week’s episode to see how she handles it.

Lorelai’s Jeep died. And after a painfully awkward visit to Luke’s diner, she decides car shopping would be the perfect way to work on their friendship. They go shopping and get into a huge fight, but Lorelai knows it is a great sign. After deciding not to buy a new car, she goes home to find Sookie and Jackson. Jackson broke her dollhouse by mistake. Later, Luke shows up and tells Lorelai he’s tracked down her exact Jeep, gone and looked at it and scheduled time for Gypsy to take the engine from it and put it in Lorelai’s Jeep so she can keep her car. Awww… sweet. And with that, they seem to have gone back to a semi-normal friendship. It’s about time.

Hay Bale Maze Recap

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

I am so glad our Girls are back! I enjoyed this episode, although it was sorely missing Richard and Emily. Let’s discuss major points…

Kwon and Steve? Are they SERIOUS? What kind of names are those for Lane and Zach’s twins? I was waiting for something more rock and roll like Wolfgang and Amadeus or something. And why no Lane in the show? Zach was cute gushing about his boys, but I would much rather seen Lane.

April arrived on the scene. (Cue the Debbie Downer music). My friend and I were talking last night and we totally agree - she was the pivotal moment that the series took a bad turn. Oh well. I hope we don’t see much more of her this season.

Rory interviewed with the Providence Journal and was offered a job. While she was excited for the chance, she eventually decided she wanted to hold out for a fellowship instead. Meanwhile, she brought Logan home and he and Lorelai finally had it out. He explained to her that he was ready to work hard to earn a living and he had no intention of being a gambler any more. He said he’s not the guy that goes to Vegas on a whim and acts stupid. Hmmm…. maybe he means he isn’t going to be that guy anymore because he has totally been that guy all along.

Lorelai and Luke finally had a chat in the maze and they apologized to each other. It was nice to see a clearing of the air between them. Next week’s episode looks fantastic - they’ve got a long way to go before they can be friends much less anything else again. And what was with the preview and Lorelai riding a bike in that collared dress??? Weird. Reminded me of The Wizard of Oz - maybe its a dream?

“Gilmore Girls Only” Recap

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

I’m telling you, the show is back in my good graces! If they keep turning out funny episodes, why not another season? So let’s hit the major points.

Lorelai begs Rory to go with her to Mia’s wedding, but Rory can’t make it. She quickly changes her tune when she has a huge fight with Logan. Mitchum shows up at the apartment and screams at Logan for behaving immaturely and after he leaves, Rory agrees with him, causing the fight. So the girls prepare for their road trip and Emily overhears and invites herself along.

Zack and Lane have Luke over to dinner and ask him to be their boys’ godfather. Reluctant at first, he finally agrees. The next day Zack shows up early to work for some bonding time with Luke and confesses that he is freaked out about being a father. Luke tells him “dad mode” will definitely kick in and not to worry about it. Lane’s water breaks and Luke takes Zack to pick up Lane. She has the babies and all is well.

Back in North Carolina, Emily pouts around at Mia’s wedding and Rory tells Lorelai that it must be hard for Emily to watch all of them together, knowing that she missed out on so much. In a sweet moment, Lorelai tells her mother she understands that it must have been difficult to lose her and Rory.

There was plenty of talk about what would happen when Rory goes away. I wonder if this is their set up for a possible next season? I personally would enjoy another year if it goes like these past few episodes have. What do you think?

“Would you be my Lorelai Gilmore?” recap

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Ok gang, this was a good one! I really liked it. I’m so glad that I can now watch the show and not have a silent dread about what is going to happen. Life in Stars Hollow is back in the forefront and I couldn’t be happier.

Logan finally told Rory about his failed business venture. He’s avoiding his dad’s calls and instead of going with Rory to Lane’s baby shower, he heads to Vegas with Colin and Finn. Very responsible. For every two steps forward he takes 3 steps back. I know its part of growing up and making mistakes is common, it’s just very interesting to see a trust fund baby make GIANT mistakes. Rory had every right to be upset about him not telling her and then running off to Vegas.

Honestly? Rory continues to bore me. I still enjoy her interactions with Lorelai, but for some reason, I just don’t love her storylines this season. She had coffee with a guy at The New York Times which might lead to a job or internship. And my reaction? Shrug the shoulders. Sigh, I miss her, don’t you?

Lorelai ran all over Stars Hollow preparing for Lane’s baby shower. I have always loved Lorelai and Lane’s relationship - so cute. Lorelai is the anti-Mrs. Kim but still managed to broker peace in time for the shower. I love Mrs. Kim - you can always count on good laughs from her. The whole bedrest, roll Lane to the shower thing was ridiculous. Even more ridiculous was the fact that Lane appears to be 18 months pregnant with quintuplets. But oh well. Having the shower at Miss Patty’s was great - I loved seeing her, Babette, Gypsy and Lulu! Yea for townspeople! I have missed them all.

Luke sold his boat to Kirk! The boat that he got from his father. The boat he stored at Lorelai’s after he told her to get rid of it. The boat that caused a horrible fight between Luke and Lorelai. The boat he had for 20 years. He finally let go of it. And Liz (of all people) was the one that convinced him it was time to let go. When Lorelai asked him about it, he just shrugged and said, “Things change.” Yes they certainly do. Lorelai was right - it used to take hiim a week to make a decision, now he’s buying a new boat and selling his old one on a whim.

“I’m a kayak, hear me roar” recap

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

FINALLY! This is the episode I’ve been wanting to see all season. Finally all cylinders were firing. I’ve missed the family dynamic all season. At its heart, this was always a show about family - Lorelai and Rory, their interactions with the Gilmores, the Stars Hollow family, the Kims, Sookie and Jackson, etc. To me, that’s what’s been missing lately by focusing each episode on Lorelai and Chris and their marriage.

Richard is having a tough time adjusting post heart attack. Emily has him on a strict diet and he’s miserable. Emily finally has enough and Lorelai jumps in to help her. The two end up drinking in his study and Lorelai tells her mother that she broke up with Chris. Instead of blowing up, Emily tells Lorelai she’ll be ok. The next day, the old Emily returns and barks to Lorelai that she has to cancel all the party plans. The complicated mother daughter relationship we’ve watched unfold over the past years returns.

It is Logan’s birthday and Rory sets up his apartment to make up for his lost birthdays as a child. Mitchum calls and wants to take them to dinner. While Logan takes a call, Mitchum praises Rory for her good influence on Logan and says they need to plan the next phase of Logan’s life together. Rory tells Logan later. And Logan’s newly purchased company is being sued for copyright infringement. Looks like trouble in paradise.

TJ, LIz and Dula stay with Luke for a few days with their house is being fumagated. They tell him they worry about him being lonely and offer to come back anytime. This was a sweet family story, too. I’ve missed seeing Luke lately. TJ tells him to stay away from Lorelai and Liz tells him to go after her. I think we know which one he’ll do.

Even Miss Patty, Babette and Kirk made an appearance last night! All in all, very good episode. What did you think?

Recap

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Sorry to be a day late, I was sick yesterday. Let’s break Tuesday’s episode down.

1) Michel’s dog dies and Lorelai and Sookie plan an elaborate funeral. At the funeral, while listening to Zack strum “My Heart Will Go On” Lorelai gets smacked upside the head by the reality train. After having one blow out with Chris, she goes home to have round two. She tells him she wishes he was who she wanted. She says its more than just her feelings for Luke causing this to not work. It just isn’t right, she told him. Looks like that ill-conceived marriage plot line is finally winding down now.

2) Rory and Logan are still happy. And there was a boring plot line about Rory crushing on her TA. Paris is awesome. She rocks every scene she’s in. Know what? I’d LOVE to see a Paris spin off, wouldn’t you?

Well, were we happy or no? Overall, I thought this was a good episode. I really enjoyed the family banter at the beginning with all 4 of the Gilmores walking around the hospital. That’s what the show needs more of - all the Gilmores and a serious dose of fun.

Recap

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Well, there isn’t a whole lot to recap about “I’d Rather be in Philadelphia.” The episode played out exactly like I thought it would. I think I’d read too much about it and watched too many previews. Anyway, Richard had a heart attack. Lorelai and Rory went to the hospital. Emily showed up and in her usual way went about canceling their plans for the next few weeks, ordering fish, getting Richard’s will faxed to her, etc. Lorelai couldn’t handle that behavior and went off on Emily. Finally Emily broke down and said this is what married people do, they take care of each other and do what’s needed. Meanwhile Logan borrowed a helicopter to get to the hospital and be with Rory. He and Rory went to the house to meet the fish delivery and to pick up Richard’s things. Chris was nowhere to found, even after Lorelai left him message after message.

But Luke was there. And thus the point of the whole episode. Just like her letter said last week, when Luke’s in your life, he’ll be in your life forever. When Chris finally showed up at the end, it was too late. Lorelai had seen what she’d given up. And that promo for next week? WOW. “I want you to be the man I want.” And clearly Chris isn’t the one she wants. OUCH.

Recap

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I have to say, these first two episodes back after that long break have been great in my opinion. Maybe its because I see a light at the end of the tunnel for the whole marriage debacle. Last night’s episode had huge plot lines—-

Luke got shared custody of April. This was after a nasty little hearing where Anna’s lawyer dragged out all his dirty laundry. But fought and he won. Hmm… wonder what else in his life is worth fighting for?

Paris returned! I love her. You know what, if they want to spin off a show, center it around her. I’d watch every single week. Paris is revved up for her last semster at Yale and is dragging Rory with her by making charts and plans. Rory seems less than interested. Where’s that dogged ambition she always had? I LOVED that Paris took action and helped Rory and Lucy patch things up and I’m glad that little feud is over. But where’s Marty? Is he really not coming back?

Sookie was acting bizarre. (Finally, we got to see her in more than one scene). It turns out Jackson didn’t get that vasetecomy after all so he knows she’s pregnant, she just doesn’t know it yet. When Lorelai forces Jackson to tell her what’s going on, she makes Jackson tell Sookie. Sookie freaks out and Lorelai has to calm her down. While talking about how great babies are, Sookie asks if Lorelai was thinking of having another and she says maybe.

But back at home, Chris finds Lorelai’s character reference for Luke in a drawer. Of course the letter reads beautifully, and Chris finally sees that Lorelai isn’t over Luke. He confronts her about it and she says she doesn’t still love Luke. But Chris doesn’t buy it. He accuses her of biding her time with him and simply using him as a rebound to get over Luke. Ouch. I actually felt sorry for Chris. It’s a shame neither of them figured this out before they got married in Paris. Chris stormed out.

Richard collapsed while teaching his class. Don’t worry - he doesn’t die, according to everything I’ve read. That arc should make for some great drama. We already know Luke shows up immediately and Chris is nowhere to be found.

So, is this the beginning of the end for Chris and Lorelai? Will Luke finally endear himself to Emily by being there in the Gilmore time of need? Will Lorelai finally see what a terrible mistake she made?
