Hay Bale Maze

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Finally, an official blurb on the next new show, “Hay Bale Maze” airing April 17.

As Stars Hollow prepares for the annual Spring Fling Festival, Rory brings Logan home to see where she grew up, but there’s tension in the air between him and Lorelai. Meanwhile, Rory waits to hear news after a job interview with the Providence Journal-Bulletin; April visits Luke and he adjusts to the changes that come with having a teenage daughter; and the town is up in arms when Taylor uses the entire festival budget to build a hay-bale maze.

Save One Show Campaign

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Kristin at E! Online is conducting her annual Save One Show Campaign. So far over 600,000 votes have been cast and Gilmore Girls is one of the top 5 in the poll right now. To be honest, I don’t think winning the poll will help our show. It’s up to Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham. But if you’re so inclined, vote! Or vote for Veronica Mars because I know some of you readers love V just as much as the Girls. Vote now.

TV’s Sexiest Stars

Lauren Graham was named by TV Guide as one of TV’s sexiest stars in this week’s magazine. Lauren was listed as TV’s Sexiest Mom. Congrats to Lauren for (wait for it) bringing sexy back.

Show runner looking for work

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Current Executive Producer David Rosenthal is out and about in Hollywood taking meetings. Of course this is just a rumor, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that the show is over, but it isn’t looking good. Sources still say Alexis Bledel is the hold out and Lauren Graham has always said she wouldn’t sign without her. There is talk of a show that would have Rory stopping by during sweeps only, but I doubt that will happen. In the meantime, we’ve got to wait a few more weeks to see how this all wraps up.

More reruns

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

The CW, in all their wisdom, has decided to push Gilmore Girls return back until April 17. A source told TV Guide that they wanted to air more original Girls episodes in May. Boo hiss. I wish they would hurry up and announce the fate of the show so we wouldn’t have to wonder.

Daddy Gilmore

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

There’s a new video interview with Edward Herrmann up on the CW The Source. He answers fan questions - such as why he didn’t have as many scenes with Kelly Bishop this season. It is a very interesting piece. He talks about the possibility of a season eight and says that Lauren seems inclined to continue, but he doesn’t think Alexis wants to continue. He goes on to say that Alexis was not very happy the first few seasons of the show, but has since “sorted her life out.” He says he doesn’t think Alexis wants to continue as an actress at all. WOW!

It’s really a must watch. Check it out.

Setting the record straight

Monday, March 19th, 2007

Ok, there is a ton of buzz around whether or not our beloved Girls will get an eighth season or not. From what I can tell, that decision rests on Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. Reports indicate that Scott Patterson has agreed to another season, but there’s a rumor that Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) has signed on to a fall pilot. On top of all of this, comes a rumor that the fate of the freaking awesome Veronica Mars depends on whether or not Lauren and Alexis want to do another year of Gilmore Girls. This is most definitely not true, according to TV Guide. But I still have my doubts.

It would stand to reason that the CW wouldn’t want to lose both shows, leaving them a huge hole in their schedule. And with it looking less and less likely that the Girls will be back, wouldn’t they keep Veronica? It has been confirmed that VM Creator Rob Thomas is shooting a promo piece to show execs that he would jump the series four years into the future and have Veronica as a young FBI agent, should the show get renewed. There’s bound to be tons more rumors floating around over the next few weeks. Best case scenario? Both get to stay. But if Alexis is done with GG, then I really hope they give the awesome Kristen Bell and Veronica Mars another chance. Any way you shake it, losing one or both of these shows will be a sad day for TV fans.

For those of you that are Veronica Mars fans, Kristin at E! is leading the charge to save the show. Check it out. Unfortunately, no such campaign will influence another season of GG, I don’t think.

Guest star news

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Mike at TV Guide has some big casting scoop! (And also makes it sound like a season 8 is a long shot).

Say what you want about this season’s Gilmore Girls, but show-runner Dave Rosenthal has succeeded in at least one area where Team Palladino failed: He’s arranged for Rory to finally come face-to-face with her longtime idol, Christiane Amanpour!

According to multiple Girls sources, CNN’s internationally renowned newshound will make a cameo in the show’s May 8 season (and likely series) finale. Amanpour’s scene is still being written, so all that’s known at this point is that she will be playing herself.

As anyone with a passing interest in Gilmore Girls knows, Amy and Dan were relentless in their bid to lure Amanpour to Stars Hollow during their six-year reign. They almost succeeded in getting her late last season, but a scheduling conflict derailed things at the 11th hour. They left shortly afterwards and, well, the rest is history. Whatever mixed feelings they have about the show these days, I gotta think this news will put a smile on their faces.

Now, regarding the small matter of the show’s “likely series finale,” all I can say is that you might want to start saying your goodbyes now. Talks to bring the show back for an eighth season have stalled, and, according to several sources, there’s little hope for a turnaround.

On the bright side, Rory’s finally gonna meet Christiane Amanpour!

More Jezebel James News

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Gilmore Girls Creator and former Exec. Producer/Writer/Bringer of the Awesome Amy Sherman-Palladino is getting a nice cast lined up for her new show on Fox, The Return of Jezebel James. Parker Posey has been cast as Jezebel and now Lauren Ambrose of Six Feet Under has been cast as Jezebel’s younger sister. I can’t wait to see this show. It will be very interesting to see how much Amy can pack into only 30 minutes! Wonder if there will be a laugh track? Let’s hope not.

Online Petition

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Some fans of Gilmore Girls are joining together to petition for an eighth season of the show. It is widely known that the future of the show rests in the hands of Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as their contracts are up at the end of this season. It has been reported that Alexis wants to move on, but Lauren is open to staying on another year. It may come down to Lauren choosing to stay and having Alexis pop in for sweeps. I don’t know if this is a good idea or not. As much as I love the show, the two of them are the core of it, but if written well, it might work. In the next few months there will be all kinds of rumors floating around. I’ll do my best to keep you up to date on all of them. If you’re interested in the Great 8 Mandate check it out here.

Girls Producer writing her own show

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Former Everwood producer and current Gilmore Girls producer Rina Mimoun is working on a pilot of her own. If you were an Everwood fan, you’ll remember that Mimoun worked tirelessly on that show, running it and writing for it. And for you diehard WB fans, Rina worked on Jack and Jill (still miss that one) and Dawson’s Creek. She’s also done terrific work this season on GG, and wrote the episode “Lorelai’s First Cotillion.” So needless to say, I’ll be tuning in for her new show! Here’s the story:

TV pilot to be filmed in Charleston

CHARLESTON — Charleston will be the backdrop for the pilot episode for a television series about a big city attorney who returns to the Lowcountry to join her family’s law practice.

Officials with the South Carolina Film Commission say Charleston beat out Savannah, Ga., for the project being produced by Warner Bros. Television.

Crews are expected to begin filming in March and if the series, tentatively titled “Family Juleps,” is picked up, it would air on ABC.

State film commissioner Jeff Monks says a series could be a significant boon in terms of jobs, tax revenue and exposure for the Lowcountry.

According to the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com), writer and executive producer Rina Mimoun of “Gilmore Girls” and “Everwood” fame is producing and writing a series about a successful attorney who leaves her law firm in the city to move back home in the Deep South. Actress Mary Steenburgen is listed as one of the stars of the show.

College Kids love the Gilmores and McDreamy

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Variety has a fun article about college kids loving Gilmore Girls and Grey’s Anatomy. The ratings for both shows are high for that sweet spot demo that advertisers love 18 - 35. I bet the ABC Family reruns of GG are pretty high with the young folks. I know whenever I can find an excuse to be home at 10 in the morning on a week day, I sure tune in.

Baby on board

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

USA Today ran an article on pregnant TV stars and how the writers handle their pregnancies. It’s very interesting. I’ve always wondered why we have no problem watching straight people play gay characters and vice versa and total jerks play good guys, etc. but if a woman is really pregnant she has to be on the show. Or it has to be convincingly covered up. Remember the lengths they went to for Claire on the Cosby Show? They raised the kitchen counters up to cover her. I know the actress Marcia Cross is pregnant, is it not plausible for me to watch her in a scene not behind a grocery bag and get confused and think BREE is pregnant? Anyway, the article talks about Sookie and how Gilmore Girls had to undo an earlier plot point to accomodate Melissa McCarthy’s real life pregnancy. Read more here.

Parker Posey named next Sherman-Palladino It Girl

Friday, February 16th, 2007

According to TV Guide:

Oh, if this isn’t a match made in TV heaven, I don’t know what is: Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has tapped fast-talking Parker Posey to star in her Fox pilot The Return of Jezebel James. Per the Hollywood Reporter, the indie darling will play an infertile book editor who asks her estranged kid sister to have her baby. “I can’t believe it’s happening,” AS-P said of landing the picky actress. “The character runs the gamut of emotions from laughing to flipping out to breaking your heart in 22 minutes, and only one in a zillion people has enough skill and charm to pull that off. Parker Posey is that person.” I couldn’t agree more.

I’m excited to see Amy’s new show in the fall. Should be interesting. I wonder if there will be a laugh track??

Some nice press for a change

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

I get a little tired of reading such negative stuff about Gilmore Girls from critics. I think everyone can agree the show isn’t quite what it used to be, but what show is after 7 seasons? Anyway, it is nice to see some positive press for the show over on TV Guide. Matt Roush talks about sweeps month for our Girls. Check it out.
