EB Benefit

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Lauren was recently at a EB Benefit hosted by Jennifer Aniston and David Arquette. (Who here besides me would love to see Lauren and Jen in a movie together??) “The EBMRF is a volunteer nonprofit foundation dedicated to the support of medical research of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), its causes, the development of successful treatments, and ultimately, its cure.”

EB is a skin disorder that causes constant sores and abrasion of the skin, Even clothing is painful. This disorder is very hard on children. Several celebrities were on hand for the launch of Vacheron Constantin’s Platinum Excellence watch collection which benefits EBMRF.

Is it really over?

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

I’ve seen a lot of chatter on the net since last week’s episode where Lorelai and Chris got married. Most of it is negative. Some people are saying the show is done and some fans are refusing to watch it now. What do you think? Is Gilmore really dead now? Can the diehard Luke/Lorelai fans (like me) overlook this huge mistake and hang around to see what is next? Is the magic really gone from the show without Amy and Dan? What do you think? Are you throwing in the towel are sticking it out.

I’ll be sticking it out. I’m hoping the writers will work themselves out of this corner in a creative way. Some of the magic is gone, in my opinion, but on its worst day, Gilmore is better than most shows on television.

Gilmore’s Neighbor

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Veronica Mars has been given a pick up for 20 episodes this season. This is a good show of confidence on The CW’s part for the Tuesday pair of Gilmore and Veronica. Veronica is up 7% in the 18 -34 demo compared to last year. It is important for our Girls to have a great partner on Tuesday — especially with American Idol coming up. I can think of no one better than Ms. Mars!

Synopsis for next week’s episode

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Lorelai (Lauren Graham) invites Rory (Alexis Bledel) over to dinner to tell her that she and Christopher (David Sutcliffe) got married in Paris. Rory pretends to be thrilled while Christopher is in the room, but later tells Lorelai how hurt and angry she really is.

Back in town for the start-up of his new internet company, Logan (Matt Czuchry) invites Rory to the launch party, where she meets a magazine editor who suggests she write an article on the event. Rory writes a judgmental article, describing the guests as spoiled elitists. Logan is hurt and angry, accusing Rory of hypocrisy since she is living rent-free in his apartment. Defensive at first, Rory realizes she is living a double standard and decides to find her own apartment.

Meanwhile, when April (Vanessa Marano) faces a medical emergency, a frantic Luke (Scott Patterson) turns to Lorelai for help.

Alexis

Friday, November 17th, 2006

We don’t see Alexis Bledel out and about that often, but she recently attended Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in LA. And fittingly, she looks smashing. One thing I’ve noticed, Alexis rarely smiles a huge smile - she always looks like she’s playing it cool.

Gilmore Girls still doing well ratings-wise

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Gilmore Girls brought in 4.4 million viewers this week. I’m very interested to see NEXT week’s numbers. I’m wondering if Lorelai and Chris getting married will be the last straw for some fans?

David Rosenthal Q and A

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Exec Producer David Rosenthal talks to Michael Aussiello again. Warning - some spoilers!

I’m assuming it’s not going to be smooth sailing for the newlyweds,
right?

David Rosenthal: It’s one thing to go off on this romantic weekend and get married; it’s another thing to actually come back and deal with the reality of being married. Lorelai’s never lived with anyone. They’ve never really lived together. This marriage puts a lot of pressure on them both. That’s the big theme for the latter half of the season for Lorelai and Chris, and for Rory. She’s facing graduation and her future, and she’s always thought, “Oh, I’m going to be a journalist.” Rory’s going to open herself up to the possibility that there are other options out there for her.

Rory’s going to embark on a new career?
Rosenthal: She’s never really considered anything else; now she’s willing to consider everything else. And there’s the other issue of Logan being back in New York. There are opportunities that could pull her away from Logan. Suddenly, it’s no longer a college relationship. It’s two people out in the world, so the stakes become higher.

How will Logan’s return impact Rory in the short term?
Rosenthal: It will kind of rev up their relationship in good and bad ways. We’re going to see their relationship deepen and complicate in many ways.

Will Rory find herself torn between Marty and Logan?
Rosenthal: No. Marty’s feelings for Rory will really be the issue; it’s not reciprocated. The man is still holding a torch. It’s something he just can’t seem to let go of, and it’ll definitely cause problems. But there’s nothing on Rory’s end. It’s not her thing — it’s his thing.

Back to Lorelai and Christopher, fans are speculating that their marriage is going to be short-lived since David Sutcliffe is allegedly only going to be around for a handful of episodes during the second half of the season. And from that, they’re deducing that Lorelai will be back together with Luke by February. Your thoughts?
Rosenthal: I’m gonna say, “No comment.”

[I don't know about you guys, but that "no comment" spoke volumes to me.]

The following section contains Ausiello’s own answers to questions:
Question: I heard that Rory gets mad at Lorelai about eloping.— Erin
Ausiello: Actually, I hear Rory takes the news surprisingly well. Luke, on the other hand, finds out when he spots the ring on Lor’s finger. That’s gotta hurt.

Question: You never talk about Gilmore Girls anymore! What gives?— Candace
Ausiello: I’m inclined to think I more than made up for it this week, Candy. But here’s another extra spoilery tidbit, you ungrateful brat: A somewhat reliable Stars Hollow mole tells me that Episode 13 marks a major turning point in the Luke-Lorelai-Christopher triangle. Apparently, Luke and Christopher choose to deal with Richard’s health crisis in very different ways: Luke chooses to run around helping Emily, while Christopher chooses to go off and sulk about a bad fight he had with Lorelai. Cue the inevitable Lorelai epiphany.

Luke and Lorelai fans’ worst nightmare

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

I am so disappointed that Chris and Lorelai got married. At least Lorelai looked a bit remorseful at the end of the episode. She was right when she told Chris it was too fast. They seems to be living off memories instead of the present and truthfully, Chris is her rebound from Luke. Lorelai desperately wanted to marry Luke and when he didn’t jump at her elopement idea she ended it. So here was Chris that wanted to elope and she did it. I hope they realize what a mistake it was. And Rory will be very upset.

Elsewhere I’m wishing they hadn’t gone in the baby direction with Lane and Zack. It just isn’t working for me. I miss the fun episodes with rehearsal and Sebastian Bach.

I’m torn over how I feel about Rory’s freak out. On the one hand, it seemed inevitable, but on the other, Rory has always been self assured and confident with what she wants to do (save for that dropping out of Yale debacle).

Unfortunately for me and all diehard fans, I knowingly nodded when Rory said, “I feel like everything is ending. I have no idea what I’m doing.?

Personally, I thought that line summed up most fans overall feelings about this season. Thoughts?

“French Twist” Recap

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Lorelai, Chris and Gigi go to Paris and meet Sherry. Tired by jet lag, Lorelai and Chris fall asleep and miss their dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant. They wake up hungry and scour the city looking for a place to eat, nothing is open since it is 4 a.m. so they go back to the hotel. Chris arranges for the restaurant to open by bribing them with money. They share a romantic dinner as the sun comes up overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Lorelai tells Chris she loves him. He tells her he loves her, too and says he doesn’t want to wait any longer. He asks her to marry him and she hesitates saying that Rory isn’t there. Chris convinces her and they marry.

Back at Yale, Rory’s term as editor of The Yale Daily News is over. Her staff showers her with compliments and Rory is conflicted about leaving. She suddenly has a lot of free time on her hands. Paris asks her about her after graduation plans and Rory panics. She calls up her new friends and they retreat to Stars Hollow for some fun. They dye their hair and Rory breaks down and tells them she is upset because everything is ending and she doesn’t know what is next. They tell her that no one knows what is next and that she shouldn’t worry. They go back to Yale where Rory meets her friend’s boyfriend and it is Marty. He acts like he doesn’t know Rory at all.

Lane and Zack find out they are having twins. Zack is freaked out about it until he understands that the babies aren’t Siamese. They go dinner at Mrs. Kim’s house to nervously break the news. To their surprise, Mrs. Kim is ecstatic about the twins and insists they move in with her. When the tell her no, she moves in with them instead.

Previews for next week show Rory upset to learn about the marriage and some sort of Luke and Christopher show down.

Next week’s episode trailer

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Check out next week’s “Director’s Cut” trailer for the episode entitled “French Twist.

Hope for Luke and Lorelai yet?

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Luke/Lorelai fans and Rory/Logan fans take heart - Ausiello says:

“There’s a moment coming up later this month between Luke and Lorelai that is so moving and poignant that it’ll have Christopher seeing green. Two hints: said moment occurs outdoors, and it involves an infant. Also, I hear Episode 13 marks a turning point in the Luke/Lorelai/Christopher triangle. And Richard’s health crisis plays a critical role.”
Huge-ass prattle: Logan’s moving home! At least closer to home. He’s going to accept a job at an Internet start-up in New York.”
